The total refurbishment of the 12-storey
Apex Plaza building in Reading, owned by the Prudential
Assurance Group, included a sweeping redesign of
the front-of-house atrium reception area. Designed
by ADP architects, it features two raised eye-shaped
café-space islands at either end of the reception
and a new water feature. The ADP design also included
circular concrete-shell bench seating at the centre
of the two raised café islands.
Working closely with the architects and the Prudential,
C2 successfully sourced and delivered furniture
to complement the interior design. This included
a classic Charles sofa, designed by Antonio Citterio
for B&B Italia Furniture for the waiting areas
and 1980s iconic Amat Toledo tables and chairs
for the two raised café areas. C2 also designed,
supplied and installed custom-made seats and backs
for the circular bench seating and, since the initial
installation, has supplied loose furniture for
the atrium, which has grown in popularity with
the Apex Plaza tenants.
