The three new student accommodation blocks at the University of Sussex’s Falmer campus houses 260 paying students. In addition to providing students with modern and comfortable surroundings in which to live and work, the new buildings also provide the University with the possibility of offering accommodation to visiting academics and dignitaries as an alternative to hotel accommodation some way away in Brighton city centre.

C2’s contribution to the project involved the sourcing and selection of the student bedroom furniture. This included bed mattresses, bedside storage units, dining room furniture and soft seating, plus back-office desks and chairs for the administrative staff. Shortlisted products were first assessed by the University’s architects before being reviewed by the their purchasing department.

Once the products and the architect’s fabrics and finishes had been chosen, C2 project managed the entire procurement, delivery and installation, working closely with the main contractor. The project was a departure from C2’s core business, but made full use of the company’s project management experience.
