The redesign and refurbishment of
the refectory at Esher College was aimed at updating
the interior, increasing student use of the facility
and improving traffic flow at peak times. It drew
heavily on C2’s educational facility design
experience. In addition to space planning and the
careful selection of robust furniture, the C2 solution
involved the installation of an acoustic sound booth
for the student radio station, colour scheme selection,
decoration and curtaining to improve the overall
acoustics. The C2 proposal also included the skilful
use of screen-printed wall panels and ceiling-hung
screening to further enhance the area’s acoustic
performance. The company even managed to save money
for the college by finding a buyer for its old refectory
furniture.
Work on this turn-key project. was carried out
during the summer holiday and the new-look refectory
opened on time at the start of the new term.
